Tape Data Recovery
eMag Success Stories
9-track
For an international Geophysical Client we completed a successful data recovery of their entire tape
library with a very high rate of success. The tapes had been exposed to
so much heat and humidity that the spools had warped and mold
had begun growing on the sides, while a number were completely stuck together (June 2002).
9-track, 3480, 3490e, 3590 and DLT
When Hurricane Floyd hit in 1999, 13,000 tapes were submerged in water and
mud at one New Jersey Data Center. We flew our expert to this site within
hours of being requested and he supervised the recovery operation from the site.
Six weeks later 92% of all data had been recovered and copied onto new media that
included 9 track, 3480, 3490e, 3590 and DLT.
3480, 3490e and 4mm DDS2
A large facilities management company had a data center flooded when a river burst
its banks in Barcelona, Spain. A very complex job due to a rare bacteria crusted
on the surface of the tape our engineers recovered 95% of all data from 3480,
3490e and 4mm DDS2 tapes.
DLT
A geophysical company with 3 critical DLT tapes they could not read. One with
an overwritten header, another physical damage and the third with a critical read
error. 100% of data recovered within two days.
Mammoth 2
A financial bank's quarter end backup cartridge on mammoth 2 media was over initialized
rendering the data unobtainable. eMag engineers recovered 100% of the data.
eMag engineers have successfully recovered data from thousands of damaged tapes.
