Trident Software - PST De-Duplication, PST Generator and Message Exporter

Trident Software

With the growth of the internet, e-mail has become the primary form of communication in business today and it is now frequently included in discovery requests. Due to the ease of creation and shorter nature of e-mails, the volume of data involved can be staggering. This creates a problem in the collection and searching of relevant information exchanged by counsel. Trident Software was created to address
this problem.

With Trident, e-mails can be reviewed in a standard database, using all of the capabilities of the database's structure. Once the responsive e-mails have been isolated, they can be delivered to opposing counsel... in their native e-mail format. This solution gives litigants the ability to meet the discovery request of native e-mail files to its fullest definition. This process saves your company the time and money previously necessary to convert hundreds of gigs of PST files to TIFF images for review and coding. It also saves your staff from the tedious and time intensive task of having a legal assistant go back through all of those same PST files looking for the correct email to print to paper format.

De-Duplication with Key Word Filtering

The Message De-Duplication tool will create new PST or NSF files from the selected source PST or NSF files removing duplicates. De-duplication can be performed globally or by custodian. Key Word Filtering is also available during the De-Duplication.
  • The unique messages can then be:
    1. Merged into a single PST or NSF file
    2. Copied into a PST or NSF file per source PST or NSF file
    3. Copied into a PST or NSF file per custodian
  • The message folder path is kept in the destination PST or NSF file; however you may optionally insert the custodian name and/or source PST or NSF name into the folder path.
  • To maintain chain of custody, a cross reference file is created so that you can map the messages in the destination PST or NSF file back to the source.
  • A duplicate log is created so that you can see the unique message that was kept as well as how many duplicate messages, and the sources, were not included.

Unique and duplicate message data is stored so that future data can be de-duped. This allows de-duplication of data on a rolling basis.

Email Re-Generation

The Email Re-Generation can create new PST or NSF files from selected messages from multiple source PST or NSF files. You review your data in the review tool of your choice. Tag the messages of interest and export a file with the Entry IDs (Message IDs). The Email Re-Generation can then create new PST or NSF files from the source PST or NSF files used in the review.

The Email Re-Generation can be used in the middle of your discovery process to make smaller PST or NSF file sets. Email Re-Generation can also be used as a production tool when you need to produce native PST or NSF files to opposing council or the government.

  • The selected messages can then be:
    1. Merged into a single PST or NSF
    2. Copied into a PST or NSF per source PST or NSF
    3. Copied into a PST or NSF per custodian
  • The message folder path is kept in the destination PST or NSF; however you may optionally insert the custodian name and/or source PST or NSF name into the folder path.
  • To maintain chain of custody, a cross reference file is created so that you can map the messages in the destination PST back to the source.
  • The load file format is very flexible. The only required field is the Entry ID. Email Re-Generation will auto-detect Concordance DAT files, Tab and CSV delimited files. Email Re-Generation will take any delimited file as input.
  • You can easily assign custodian names to PST or NSF files to process data by custodian.
  • Email Re-Generation is extremely fast in generating the new PST files.

Message Importer-free tool

The Message Importer can take all loose MSG files and convert them back into a PST and preserve all metadata as well as the associated folder paths.

  • The PST files can then be:
    1. De-duplicated and organized by custodian or one output PST
    2. Loaded into a Review Solution and flagged for responsive
    3. Loaded into the Message Exporter and export out the metadata
  • The message folder path is kept in the destination PST; however you may optionally insert the custodian name and/or source PST name into the folder path.
  • To maintain chain of custody, a cross reference file is created so that you can map the messages in the destination PST back to the source.
  • You can easily assign custodian names to PST files to process data by custodian.
Message Importer and Exporter-availbile free

The Message Importer and Exporter allows you to import and export messages from multiple PST files. This can be useful if you need to individually process MSG, TXT or HTML files. The whole message is exported including the attachments to the message. At the same time a metadata file is created that includes over 20 metadata fields from the message. Besides the standard fields extracted field like Importance, Sensitivity, # of attachments, attachment filenames, and if the email has been marked as read. You can optionally only export the metadata if you do not need the MSG files exported.
